Follow the below mentioned simple steps

  1. Register free, using your Email and Password
  2. Add the business by providing below details
    • EIN (Employer Identification Number) - EIN is 9 digit unique number assigned by IRS used to identify a business entity. IN is also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number. Before adding your business EIN should be ready. Applying for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) is a free service offered by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). EIN application is the preferred method for customers to apply by phone, online, fax, or by mail.
    • Business Name – Business name is Name of your business as per SS4 form issued by IRS
    • Address – Address of your business as per SS4 form issued by IRS.
    • Zip code – Enter the Zip code where your business is registered
    • City – Enter the city name where your business is registered.
    • State – Enter the state where your business is registered.
  3. Signing Authority (SA)
    • SA Name – Enter the signing authority name of your business.
    • SA Title – Enter the Title of your signing authority eg- Mr, Mrs, President, Owner, Accountant.
    • SA Day Phone – Enter the 10 digit phone number of signing authority.
    • PIN (Personal identification Number) – Enter your PIN. Personal identification Number is 5 digit number that serves as an electronic/digital signature of a tax payer used while communicating with IRS regarding the filed Form 2290. You can create any 5 digit number of your choice as PIN except all zeros.
    • Third Party Designee (TP) – Check this, if you want to allow another person to discuss this return with the IRS. Enter TP Name, TP phone number and PIN of third party person.
    • Save your business and start the filing process
  4. Start filing process
    • Select your business - Please select your business name that you want to pay the tax returns of Form 2290.
    • Has Address Changed – If your address has been changed from previous filing please check this option.
    • Choose your Tax period – select the Tax period of your vehicle. Form 2290 must be filed for the month the taxable vehicle is first used on public highways during the current period. The taxable for the Form 2290 period begins on July 1, and ends June 30 of the following year. If your vehicle is first used on highways in the month of July, file Form 2290 and pay the appropriate tax between July 1 and August 31.
    • First Used Month – select the first used month. The First Used Month is exact month on which the vehicle is first used on public highways. If the vehicle is first used on public highways in the month of July, file the Form 2290 and pay the tax between July 1 and August 31. Please review the first used month and due dates of the vehicle filing before you go to the next step.
  5. Select your vehicle category
    • Taxable Vehicle - Choose this, if you have Taxable Vehicle in your filings. Taxable Vehicle is Highway motor vehicles that have a taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more. A highway motor vehicle includes any self-propelled vehicle designed to carry a load over public highways, whether or not also designed to perform other functions. Examples of vehicles that are designed to carry a load over public highways include trucks, trailors, truck tractors, and buses. Generally - vans, pickup trucks, panel trucks, and similar trucks are not subject to this tax because they have a taxable gross weight less than 55,000 pounds.
    • Tax-Suspended Vehicle - Choose, if you have Tax-Suspended Vehicle in your filings. If the vehicle does not cross the average limit of 5000 miles within 12 months of filing period then they fall under the category of Tax-Suspended Vehicle. Even though the taxes are not paid on the suspended vehicles, it is still required to file the Form 2290 for these vehicles.
    • Credit Vehicle - Choose, if you have Credit Vehicle in your filings. You can claim a refund electronically for a vehicle that was sold, destroyed or stolen during the tax period, you can claim credit for the tax paid on the next Form 2290 you file in the same or subsequent tax period.
    • Sold Tax-Suspended Vehicle - Choose, if you have Sold Vehicle in your filings, that was reported a previous year’s sold tax suspended vehicle with buyer’s details.
  6. Enter VIN Details
    • VIN (Vehicle identification number) for any of the above vehicle category Vehicle identification number or VIN is a unique 17 digit long alpha-numeric number used to identify the vehicle and used to report form 2290 heavy vehicle used taxes with the IRS for tax purposes. One should make sure that the VIN number is correct on the form 2290 and are not duplicates from previous filings.
    • Select Gross weight of your vehicle.
      - The taxable Gross weight of a vehicle is the total of
      - The actual unloaded weight of the vehicle fully equipped for service.
      - The actual unloaded weight of any trailers or semitrailers fully equipped for service customarily used in combination with the vehicle.
    • Select Logging
      - YES if your vehicle is under logging otherwise
      - NO If the vehicle is registered as a highway motor vehicle and it is used to transport the harvested forest products under the law of the state in which the vehicle is registered then it is termed as a logging vehicle.
    • Save the vehicle information by clicking on save vehicle.

      Note - If you have more vehicles to add we have option of Import vehicles From Excel sheet. Click on Download the Excel file link. Open the Excel file and remove the existing VINs. Add your VIN details, Gross weight, Logging details

      Now choose the file and automatically all the vehicles will saved in your account.

  7. IRS Tax Payment Options - There are three ways to pay your tax to the IRS.
    • Electronic Funds Withdrawal Tax (EFW) - The fastest and easiest Online Payment method is an Electronic Funds Withdrawal Option. If you use an EFW option for the 2290 Road Tax Payment process, then you must enter your registered bank account number, routing number, account type and phone number. And, make sure Filers, you have to allow the IRS to directly debit the 2290 Highway Tax amount from your registered bank account number.
    • Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) – It is secured payment option. To use an EFTPS option for the 2290 HVUT payment Process, you have to register on EFTPS.gov. After the registration, you must enter your registered bank account number or routing number.
    • Check or Money order Payment - To use this option, you need to write your details like your 2290 Tax Amount, 2290 Online Filing Date, and your registered bank account number on the check or money order.
  8. Review your filing information

    Here you have the option of editing, so if any mistakes in information provided you can make it correct.

    • Check on Accept Terms and conditions.
    • Review your Fee summary
      • If you have any discount coupon, Please enter it now and - dont forget to click on apply it.
      • Enter the card details such as Card number, CVV, Expiry, Card Holders name, address, city, state and the zip code.
      • Review the Terms of sale and check box and finally click on Pay service fee by clicking on the submit button.
    • Once the submissions is successful for your Form 2290, Please keep the Reference Number#, for any future references
